Responsibilities

  • Conduct quarterly operational reviews to ensure alignment with company goals and performance metrics.
  • Implement process improvements to drive efficiencies and best practices.
  • Ensure manufacturing safety and regulatory inspections are completed on time and in compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage manufacturing capital expenditures and maintain budget discipline.
  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all manufacturing facilities using data, metrics, and accountability.
  • Ensure safety meetings are conducted consistently and corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.

GM/COO, Manufacturing Operations Job Description
I. Company Overview:

Our client is a well-established manufacturing company based in Oregon who is seeking an operations focused GM/COO to turnaround manufacturing operations to bring the company back to profitability.

In addition to a competitive base salary, our client will be offering the new GM/COO a profit-sharing plan so that as revenue grows, so will the GM/COO's compensation.

II. Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a talented executive to assume the role of GM/COO. The GM/COO will re-establish the company’s culture, set the direction and tone for the company, as well as manage all aspects of manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, deep experience turning around and streamlining manufacturing operations, as well as experience implementing process improvements and putting financial controls in place to balance the P&L.

III. Position Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the GM/COO’s primary responsibility is to manage all aspects of the company's operations, and drive efficient and effective manufacturing to continue the growth of the company. The following are the core responsibilities for the GM/COO.

Leadership, Communication, and Accountability
  • Establish a consistent operating rhythm across manufacturing operations.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with department Managers and Supervisors to identify issues, align priorities, share best practices, and reinforce operational consistency.
  • Coach and develop management and supervisory leaders through regular one-on-one discussions and performance reviews.
  • Conduct quarterly operational reviews to ensure alignment with company goals and performance metrics.
Operational Excellence
  • Implement process improvements to drive efficiencies and best practices.
  • Ensure manufacturing safety and regulatory inspections are completed on time and in compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage manufacturing capital expenditures and maintain budget discipline.
Safety Leadership and Compliance
  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all manufacturing facilities using data, metrics, and accountability.

IV. Position Requirements:

The following are the qualifications, requirements, and experience necessary for the GM/COO position.

Key Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of experience as a General Manager, COO, or Vice President in manufacturing operations is required.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Transportation or Automotive manufacturing is also required.
  • Significant manufacturing turn-around experience is required.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, management, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead from a strategic and tactical perspective in all aspects of day to day operations.
  • Financial acumen, and P&L budget management experience is a must.

V. Location & Relocation:

Open to candidates outside the local area. Relocation assistance provided.
