Job Title: Surveillance OperatorDepartment: Tribal Gaming Commission (TGC) SurveillanceReports To: Surveillance SupervisorLocation: Gaming Commission OfficesOperator Status: Non-Exempt/Full TimeOperator Wage: $19.65 - $23.70SUMMARYAs a Surveillance Operator at the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the tribe's assets by closely monitoring both gaming and non-gaming areas. Your responsibilities will include utilizing advanced surveillance technology to ensure the integrity of gaming operations, identify potential threats, and mitigate risks to the casino's assets. By maintaining a constant vigil over the casino floor and associated areas, you will contribute to the overall security and integrity of the tribal gaming enterprise.OPERATOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:Utilize advanced casino surveillance equipment and software, including keyboards and recording devices and all related equipment needed to monitor, preserve or establish gaming-related activities through covert operations and surveillanceFamiliarity with the operation of all casino departments and gaming areasFamiliarity with the rules, cheating methods, and game protection strategies for a comprehensive range of live casino games, encompassing Blackjack, Dice, Roulette, Baccarat, Let It Ride, Three Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Crazy 4 Poker, Mississippi Stud Poker, Slots, Poker, Keno, and Bingo.Knowledge of Cage, Count Rooms, Slots, and other sensitive areasBecome familiar with gaming ordinances, regulations, compacts, approved Internal Control System, department policies and procedures, and have a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local lawsDevelop the ability to monitor and audit other departments in accordance with policies and proceduresConduct routine random surveillance and special observations as approved by surveillance managementConduct surveillance reviews and audits to confirm transactions or eventsDocument all observed incidents, suspicious activities, or security breaches in detailed and accurate manner.Prepare comprehensive reports for Casino/ Tribal Government management and Law Enforcement as needed.Extend Surveillance coverage and investigations to non-gaming areas such as hotel lobbies, restaurants, parking lots or other public spaces that are owned and operated by the Gun Lake Tribe.Provide support to law enforcement agencies in conducting investigations related to incidents occurring on or in the vicinity of Tribal properties.Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance skills and stay abreast of the latest advancements in surveillance technology and security practices.Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission professionalism, ethics and standards at all timesOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESHave a professional and investigative attitudeAble to perform basic mathematics, including, but not limited to, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.Keen attention to detail, excellent observation skills, and the ability to work in a high-stakes environment.Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.Ability to communicate effectively with casino employees, Gaming Commission staff, and casino management in both written and verbal formAbility to react quickly and accurately under demanding, stressful conditionsKnowledge and advanced ability to use computers and digital recording equipmentMust be reliable, trustworthy, and honestAbility to meet and communicate effectively with people and maintain favorable working relationshipsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWork is generally sedentary in nature and will frequently require sitting; however, standing and walking will occasionally be necessaryFrequently required to use hands and fingers to operate equipment and reach with hands and armsFrequently required to talk and hearCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTBe a minimum of 21 years of agePass a background investigation, which includes: personal history, criminal history, driving record, credit rating, and employment references, and satisfies suitability standards established by the Gun Lake Tribal Government and the Tribal Gaming CommissionAdhere to the Commission policy prohibiting an employee from gambling or playing any licensed game or gaming device within the Gun Lake Tribal LandsGun Lake Casino is open 24 hours per day; as a result, Gaming Commission employees may be required to work shifts that include evenings, weekends, and holidays as assignedMust be available for emergency calls any time of the day or night in any instance of infrastructure failure or extreme weather phenomenonAbility and willingness to travel, locally and out of state, for program requirements, meetings, and continuing educationSECURITY SENSITIVEThis position will have access to information that is security-sensitive and thereby subject to additional provisions.DISCLAIMERThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by persons assigned to this job.
