Job summary

Grand Lake Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time days position in an outpatient setting. You will greet patients, perform clinical assessments, and document in the electronic medical record.

You will collaborate with physicians and health team to implement orders, maintain patient privacy, and support daily operations. Requires BCLS and CMA certification within 6 months, plus strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or will graduate within 6 months of hire.
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA or equivalent credential within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience in a medical practice preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.
  • Completes clinical assessments and documents in the EMR.
  • Collaborates with physicians and health team to implement orders.
  • Implements and documents clinical aspects of care.
  • Evaluates patient’s understanding of the plan of care using teach back.
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Full Time - Days No weekends or holidays

Duties and Key Responsibilities
  • Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.
  • Completes clinical assessments of patients by completing history of present disease and illnesses with accuracy and documents appropriately in patient electronic medical record.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health team members in implementing physician orders.
  • Incorporates holistic approach to Patient Centered Medical Home, thus moving beyond problem focused care.
  • Implements and documents clinical and technical aspects of care.
  • Evaluates patient’s response and understanding to plan of care by using teach back method.
  • Openly and appropriately communicates with patients, physicians, and other members of health team.
  • Serves as a liaison for patients with outside agencies, businesses, and providers, establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family.
  • Respect’s patient’s rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Maintains established health system and work area policies and procedures, objectives, guest relations, safety, environmental and infection control guidelines.
  • Assists in care and maintenance of work area equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Basic clinical skills delivering patient care and clerical skills in an outpatient setting.
  • Obtains and maintains successful completion of BCLS Healthcare Provider Course.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, physicians, coworkers, and public.
Education/Certifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or will be graduating within 6 months of hire.
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA or other certifying body as deemed acceptable by the Practice Manager or will obtain this credentialing within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience Previous medical practice experience preferred but not required.
