Job summary

Grand Lake Health System in Saint Marys, OH, seeks a Medical Assistant for full-time days in an outpatient clinic. You will greet patients, perform history-taking, and document in the EMR, while collaborating with physicians to implement orders.

The role requires basic clinical and clerical skills, BCLS certification, and CMA certification or progress toward it within 6 months. Prior clinic experience is preferred; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or will graduate within 6 months of hire.
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA or other certifying body; credential within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience in a medical practice preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.
  • Completes clinical assessments and documents in the patient EMR.
  • Collaborates with physicians and health team to implement orders.
  • Communicates with patients, families, and health team; protects privacy and dignity.
  • Acts as liaison for patients with outside agencies and providers.
  • Maintains policies, safety, and infection control guidelines; supports equipment and supplies.

Job description

Hours of JobFull Time - DaysNo weekends or holidaysDuties and Key ResponsibilitiesGreets and escorts patients through the medical practice.Completes clinical assessments of patients by completing history of present disease and illnesses with accuracy and documents appropriately in patient electronic medical record.Collaborates with physicians and other health team members in implementing physician orders.Incorporates holistic approach to Patient Centered Medical Home, thus moving beyond problem focused care.Implements and documents clinical and technical aspects of care.Evaluates patient’s response and understanding to plan of care by using teach back method.Openly and appropriately communicates with patients, physicians, and other members of health team.Serves as a liaison for patients with outside agencies, businesses, and providers, establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family.Respect’s patient’s rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with all internal and external customers.Maintains established health system and work area policies and procedures, objectives, guest relations, safety, environmental and infection control guidelines.Assists in care and maintenance of work area equipment and supplies.Performs other duties as assigned.RequirementsBasic clinical skills delivering patient care and clerical skills in an outpatient setting.Obtains and maintains successful completion of BCLS Healthcare Provider Course.Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, physicians, coworkers, and public.Education/CertificationsGraduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or will be graduating within 6 months of hire.Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA or other certifying body as deemed acceptable by the Practice Manager or will obtain this credentialing within 6 months of hire.ExperiencePrevious medical practice experience preferred but not required.Grand Lake Health System provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, amnesty, or status as a covered veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
