Job summary

Hamilton Barnes is seeking a Network Monitoring Engineer to protect a high‑performance wireless network used by a leading trading firm. You will build tools, monitor signal quality, and automate responses to keep critical links healthy while crossing domestic and international sites.

You will design paths, coordinate with vendors, and lead incident response during outages. The role requires strong Python, Linux, networking fundamentals, RF knowledge, and experience with remote infrastructure,

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python for automation and tooling.
• Strong Linux skills and comfort with command line environments.
• Solid understanding of routing, VLANs, and data movement.
• RF fundamentals: wireless signals, antennas, interference.
• Experience managing remote devices or infrastructure across sites.
• Comfortable working under change control in high-stakes environments.
• Able to coordinate vendors, contractors, and field crews across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve monitoring tools in Splunk, Grafana, and custom code to track signal quality and degradation trends.
• Trace traffic issues across wireless links, access points and user connections to prevent outages.
• Design new wireless paths, coordinate licensing with regulators, and improve existing infrastructure performance.
• Lead incident response when outages occur, document lessons, and feed improvements back into monitoring and design.
• Write runbooks for field crews and on-call engineers to handle situations confidently.
• Travel to towers, data centres, and remote sites, domestically and internationally; participate in on-call rotations across global time zones.
