Job summary

Sterling Engineering is seeking an experienced Import/Export Analyst in Buffalo Grove, IL to manage end-to-end cross-border logistics, HTS classification and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with freight forwarders, brokers and internal teams to ensure compliant, timely shipments and drive cost efficiency.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in U.S. customs, documentation, and audit processes, with a track record of improving logistics cost control and carrier performance.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import/export compliance requirements.
• Experience with HTS classification and international shipping documentation.
• Experience coordinating with brokers, forwarders, carriers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage import activities with airlines, freight forwarders, carriers, brokers, and U.S. Customs.
• Maintain site-level import compliance for inbound shipments.
• Review contracts and shipping docs for trade compliance and risk.
• Coordinate with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders for compliant shipments.
• Prepare international shipping documentation and carrier quotes.
• Track shipments and resolve freight issues and claims.
• Lead cross-functional trade compliance and logistics initiatives.
