Job summary

Protolabs in Maple Plain, MN is seeking a Global Trade Compliance & Import/Export Specialist. The role leads the organization’s trade compliance program and acts as the SME for complex cross-border regulations, working with operations, procurement, finance, and legal to ensure compliant and efficient international movement of goods.

The candidate will interpret regulatory requirements, determine classifications, and manage documentation while monitoring changes and driving process improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, international business, business, logistics, finance, or law.
• Minimum of 8 years in international trade compliance or related.
• Experience with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and regulatory agencies in US/EU.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for import/export compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Lead global trade compliance program and ensure adherence to regulations.
• Interpret complex rules and advise leadership on risk and obligations.
• Determine tariff classifications, origin, valuation, and related docs.
• Review/import/export documentation including invoices and declarations.
• Monitor regulatory changes and adjust processes accordingly.
• Develop and maintain trade compliance policies and controls.
• Identify and mitigate trade compliance risks across functions.
• Lead investigations and corrective actions on customs issues.
• Coordinate with partners to facilitate customs clearance.
• Support expansion by evaluating compliance implications of new markets.
