Job summary

Pentair is seeking an Import/Export Compliance Specialist to join our North Aurora, IL team. You will ensure global trade compliance, classify products, and support operations across engineering, supply chain, and regulatory functions.

You will work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies, maintain audit-ready records, and monitor changes in regulations to protect the company and enable efficient, compliant trade.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Customs, International Trade, Import/Export, or Trade Compliance.
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance requirements
• Experience of working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Support HTS and ECCN classifications with Eng and PM teams.
• Ensure timely import/export classifications and compliance.
• Provide guidance on trade compliance across the business.
• Serve as a key user of trade compliance and ERP systems; ensure data accuracy.
• Monitor and resolve blocked import/export transactions and POs/SOs.
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers.
• Handle inquiries involving HTS, country of origin, FDA/EPA/TSCA, ADD/CVD, and other measures.
• Monitor regulatory changes; communicate impacts to stakeholders.
• Analyze products for USMCA and other FTAs.
• Review BOMs and cost structures to determine origin qualification.
• Maintain documentation and audit-ready records.
• Conduct restricted party screenings.
• Investigate matches and escalate issues.
• Support export control and sanctions compliance.
• Perform internal import/export audits.
• Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain records per retention requirements.
• Partner with corporate compliance on risk assessment.
