Job summary

Medtronic plc seeks a Principal Legal Counsel for Global Trade Legal & Compliance (Import) to advise on import and customs compliance, partner with regional teams, and support global trade initiatives across Medtronic’s businesses. This onsite role can be based in Minneapolis, MN or Washington, DC, reporting to the Senior Legal Director for Global Trade.

The ideal candidate has a JD, active license, and at least five years’ experience handling import laws and customs regulations in a healthcare

Qualifications

Juris Doctor from a nationally recognized law school.
Licensed to practice law in at least one state or the District of Columbia.
Minimum 5+ years of legal experience advising on import laws and customs regulations.

Responsibilities

Provide import and customs compliance guidance to support Global Trade Operations and regional lawyers.
Advise on country of origin, valuation, HTS classification, trade remedies, and related compliance activities.
Stay current on regulatory changes affecting trade compliance and analyze impacts for the business.
Collaborate with enterprise and regional teams to implement risk mitigation and compliance standards.
Support trade-related litigation, investigations, and voluntary disclosures as needed.
Deliver training on global trade compliance requirements to employees.
