Job summary

Connectly Recruiting is sourcing for a Midlevel International Trade Associate Attorney for a prestigious AmLaw 50 firm in Washington, DC. The role focuses on export controls, tariffs, customs, sanctions, and CFIUS reviews in a hybrid setting.

The candidate will join a team handling complex cross-border regulatory matters and gain exposure to high-level enforcement and national security work, with strong professional development. JD from a top law school and DC bar in good standing required.

Qualifications

• JD from a top-tier law school with excellent academic record.
• Active Bar Admission in the District of Columbia, in good standing.
• 2–3+ years of substantive experience in international trade law.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus (written and spoken).
• Experience with BIS and/or DDTC export controls.
• Experience with U.S. Customs and border protection matters, including classification and valuation.
• Experience with OFAC sanctions.
• Experience with trade remedy investigations ( antidumping, countervailing duty, safeguards).
• Strong research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on matters involving U.S. export controls, customs law, tariffs, sanctions, and CFIUS reviews.
• Assist clients with compliance requirements administered by BIS, DDTC, U.S. Customs and OFAC.
• Analyze customs matters involving product entry, tariff classification, valuation, and related regulatory requirements.
• Support matters involving antidumping, countervailing duty, and safeguard laws.
• Draft memoranda, submissions, compliance materials, and client communications.
• Collaborate with attorneys across practices and offices on cross-border regulatory matters.
• Monitor legal developments in international trade and advise clients on potential impact.
