Job summary

Sylvan, Inc. in Southfield, MI, seeks a Corporate Tax Director to lead the global tax function and partner with executives on strategy, planning and risk management.

You will oversee ASC 740 tax accounting and reporting, manage federal/state/local and international compliance, develop tax policies, and coordinate with external advisors on mergers, acquisitions and transfer pricing. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• CPA with MST strongly preferred.
• 6+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax.
• Experience with ASC 740 and tax provisioning.
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions including tax aspects.
• Multi-state and international tax experience preferred.
• Ability to operate strategically and hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Lead tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740, including provision, schedules and disclosures.
• Manage federal, state, local, and international tax compliance, returns and payments.
• Develop, communicate and enforce global tax policies and controls.
• Identify and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax expense.
• Lead transfer pricing policies and documentation.
• Own relationships with external tax advisors and oversee their work.
• Manage audits, notices and regulatory inquiries.
• Advise leadership on tax implications of mergers, acquisitions and other transactions.
• Perform tax forecasting and budgeting.
• Provide authoritative support for tax positions and monitor tax law changes.
