Job summary

Northeastern University is seeking an International Student & Scholar Advisor (ISSA) to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO). The ISSA will provide comprehensive nonimmigrant advising to F‑1 and J‑1 students and scholars, coordinate SEVIS activities, and support cross-campus international student services.

Reporting to OGS leadership, the ISSA will assist with orientations, trainings, and collaboration with campus partners to promote student success

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required.
• Bachelor's degree.
• 1–3 years of DSO/ARO experience with SEVIS.
• Experience with international student populations.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise F‑1 and J‑1 students and scholars to maintain status and employment authorization.
• Create and maintain SEVIS records and reportable events.
• Stay updated on federal regulations, SEVIS, and OGS policies.
• Provide guidance to academic departments on regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with campus partners to support international student advising and programming.
