Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to support our Project Delivery Group from our Pittsburgh office.

Reporting to the Project Delivery Group, you will work with senior engineers on reinforced concrete, foundation and structural steel design tasks. This internship emphasizes hands-on experience in a global engineering environment, with mentorship, local Lunch & Learns, and opportunities to contribute to projects worldwide.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Knowledge of structural steel and concrete design is a plus.
• Knowledge of AISC and ACI codes is a plus.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam is a plus.
• Previous co-op or internship experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior structural engineers with developing project scopes including reinforced concrete, foundation and structural steel designs, engineering estimates, capital cost estimates and developing repair methodologies.
• Apply civil/structural engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to design problems in a multidiscipline project environment.
• Apply innovative engineering solutions.
• Engineer design of repairs to structures or components.
• Work independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
• Directly apply and develop knowledge in structural steel, concrete and foundation design for building and equipment support structures.
• Gain valuable on-site practical experience.
