Job summary

• Sourcing consumer products / hardlines directly from factories.
• Understanding of costing, MOQs, tooling, packaging, lead times, and production.
• Ability to identify and qualify new factories quickly.
• Excellent negotiation skills for pricing and terms.
• Strong factory relationships and an established sourcing network.
• Ability to take a product idea or retailer request and find the right factory to execute.
• Highly organized with multiple projects at once.
• Great Excel skills are a major plus.
• Mandarin-speaking is a big plus.
• Experience sourcing in China is strongly preferred; India, U.S., and other markets are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Source daily across China, India, the United States, and other markets to build a global factory base.
• Negotiate aggressively to improve costs and terms while maintaining quality.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new factories to expand options for product development.
• Break down product costs and tooling to meet cost targets and lead times.
• Develop and manage factory relationships to support fast-paced product development.

JEM International is looking for a sourcing person to join our team.

We need someone who lives and breathes product sourcing — someone who knows how to find the right factory, negotiate aggressively, move quickly, solve problems, and get products developed and produced at the right cost.

This is NOT a passive sourcing role.

We are looking for someone who will be sourcing every single day across China, India, the United States, and other global markets — constantly building new factory relationships, finding better costs, discovering new capabilities, and bringing new product opportunities to our team.

Our primary Hardline categories include:

• Beach & Outdoor

WHAT WE NEED:

• Strong experience sourcing consumer products / hardlines directly from factories
• Deep understanding of manufacturing, costing, MOQs, tooling, packaging, lead times, and production
• Ability to identify and qualify new factories quickly
• Excellent negotiation skills — you should be extremely comfortable pushing for better pricing and terms
• Strong factory relationships and an established sourcing network are a major advantage
• Ability to take a product idea, image, sample, or retailer request and find the right factory to execute it
• Extremely organized and able to manage many projects at the same time
• GREAT Excel skills are a major plus
• Mandarin-speaking is a BIG PLUS
• Experience sourcing in China is strongly preferred; India, U.S., and additional sourcing markets are a plus

You should be the type of person who doesn’t stop after finding one factory. You find five.

You don’t accept the first price. You understand the product, break down the cost, negotiate, and find a way to make the program work.

You should be highly responsive, move with urgency, and understand that global sourcing means being accessible when factories overseas are working — including communication outside normal U.S. business hours when necessary.

You will be joining an experienced and fast-moving product development and sourcing team working across major U.S. retailers.
