Position Summary

The Global Sourcing Specialist develops and executes sourcing strategies that expand Wood-Mizer's global supply base into lower-cost producing countries, including China, India, greater Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. The role is accountable for cost reduction and cost avoidance across assigned commodities, qualifying new suppliers, and leading cross-functional cost optimization projects with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Finance. This work turns market and commodity trends into pricing forecasts and negotiation strategies that lower product cost and protect supply continuity. This hybrid role travels up to 40%, domestically and internationally. It has no direct reports at the start, with the potential to build a sourcing team over time.

Essential Functions

• Develops and executes strategic sourcing plans that expand the supply base into China, India, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and other qualified lower-cost countries.
• Identifies, evaluates, and qualifies new suppliers through capability assessments, on‑site audits, and risk evaluations before onboarding.
• Manages supplier relationships for assigned commodities through performance scorecards, business reviews, and continuous improvement plans, and partners with Quality on supplier corrective actions and periodic audits.
• Leads cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives, building should‑cost and total‑cost‑of‑ownership (TCO) models and tracking savings in Infor Syteline, Wrike, and Qlik to meet annual savings targets.
• Monitors global market trends, commodity indexes, currency exposure, and supply risk, and develops forecasts and pricing‑impact projections for leadership.
• Negotiates, drafts, and manages supplier contracts through their lifecycle to secure favorable terms, supply continuity, and compliance with corporate policy.
• Leads sourcing for new product development, engineering changes, and product cost‑outs in close collaboration with Engineering and Manufacturing.
• Develops dual‑sourcing and supply risk mitigation plans for critical components.
• Plans and procures material for assigned commodities, balancing cost, lead time, inventory, and supply risk.
• Ensures sourcing decisions and supplier agreements comply with trade regulations (tariffs, duties, Incoterms), corporate compliance requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
• Follows all Wood-Mizer safety, quality, and company policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management
• Hands‑on international sourcing and supplier relationship management experience, with a focus on China, Asia Pacific, Latin America, India, and other lower‑cost regions
• Proven record of leading cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives with measurable, documented savings
• Experience leading supplier identification, qualification, and onboarding in a manufacturing environment
• Strong contract negotiation, drafting, and vendor management skills
• Working knowledge of Incoterms, import/export compliance, tariffs, and international logistics
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Infor Syteline or comparable) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Strong analytical skills, including building cost models and turning commodity and market data into actionable forecasts
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and senior leadership
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40%

Preferred

• CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, or C.P.M. certification
• Experience sourcing mechanical, metal fabrication, casting, electronics, or engineered components in a manufacturing or industrial equipment environment
• Ability to read engineering drawings, product prints, and specifications to evaluate supplier capability, support quoting, and identify cost‑reduction opportunities
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, casting, welding, and sheet metal
• Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement tools
• Experience with Wrike, Qlik, or similar project management and business intelligence platforms
• Mandarin, Spanish, or Portuguese language skills
