Job summary

Microwave Techniques in Gorham, Maine, is seeking a Shipping Associate to coordinate freight quotes and schedules for high-power microwave components. You will interface with FedEx, DHL, UPS and trucking partners, ensure safe packing, and load trucks with a forklift.

The role supports the sales team to meet daily shipping deadlines and maintain accurate tracking information. The ideal candidate has experience in long-haul/international shipping, forklift certification or willingness to obtain

• Must be forklift certified or willing to be certified

Responsibilities

• Partner with the sales department to produce quotes for freight shipping costs for customer invoices.
• Interface with shipping companies such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc., to coordinate shipping dates.
• Coordinate with trucking companies to deliver freights to “hub” locations for broader distribution.
• Interpret the sales order to understand the customers’ preferred shipping method and schedule shipping activities accordingly.
• Responsible to provide shipping information such as tracking numbers to key stakeholders.
• Inform the sales dept of shipping issues in a timely manner and working with the shipping companies to resolve issues.
• Follow packaging directions to ensure components are packed safely and securely to minimize damage during shipping.
• Use forklift to load trucks.
• Brand the components by creating labels and stencils
• Ensure daily shipping deadlines are met to ensure customers receive orders timely.
• Assist crate builder and operate a foam machine that distributes hot foam into packing containers.
• Tape, plug, and unmask industrial microwave components to prepare the component for industrial painting.
• Assist paint team when necessary by using an alcohol-based solution and paint thinner to clean-up parts after paining.
