NewMarket Corporation, headquartered in Richmond, VA, seeks an accomplished procurement leader to manage a portfolio with over $100MM annual spend. You will drive global sourcing strategies, lead supplier relationships, and optimize cost, quality, and continuity across R&D, production, and corporate functions.

The role emphasizes strategic planning, complex negotiations, SAP-based analytics, and people leadership, with responsibility for staffing and mentoring a procurement team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering (strongly preferred) or related field.
• 10+ years of strategic procurement/sourcing, complex negotiation, and leadership responsibilities.
• Extensive SAP procurement experience (10+ years).
• Strong data analytics and communication using SAP, Tableau, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement long-term sourcing strategies regionally and globally.
• Understand raw material markets and anticipate market changes.
• Develop and manage supplier relationships to optimize cost, quality, and performance.
• Negotiate with suppliers to improve price and supply conditions.
• Lead supplier qualification and new material sourcing initiatives.
• Develop forecasts for volume and price for internal and supplier use.
• Promote best-practice procurement processes and tools.
• Monitor supplier quality and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners on market dynamics and supply issues.
• Supervise and develop procurement staff.
