Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Lead Security Engineer to define the security direction across application, cloud, and infrastructure. You will lead the security backlog, design controls, and drive remediation across on‑prem and major clouds, balancing risk with speed.

You will mentor engineers, partner with cross‑functional teams, and develop auditable runbooks and standards, advancing a robust security program for a global estate.

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on security engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree in CS or Info Security.
• Deep understanding of security principles, vulnerabilities, and best practices across apps, cloud, and infrastructure.
• Experience with vulnerability management at scale and across multi‑cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead for security across application, cloud, and infrastructure; shape and manage the security backlog end to end.
• Design and build security controls across OS, containers, CI/CD, cloud configuration, and network boundaries.
• Revamp patching cycles and golden-image/base-image refreshes across cloud and on‑prem to maintain speed and safety.
• Propose improvements and turn them into standards adopted by the team.
• Set the technical approach across security scope: fixes, patching, guardrails, WAF, identity, and secrets; prioritize by risk with CVSS/EPSS and CISA KEV.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate with regional security teams to align standards.
• Own reporting, runbooks, and escalation paths to make security repeatable and auditable.
