Job summary

Mars Incorporated is seeking a Senior Principal Scientist to lead the Global Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Center of Excellence. You will forecast emerging scientific and regulatory developments to support freedom-to-operate for Mars Snacking across a 3-5 year horizon.

This role develops globally aligned regulatory positions, builds external networks, and champions continuous improvement, including leveraging AI tools to enhance literature reviews and regulatory intelligence for proactive risk

Qualifications

• Master's degree in toxicology, chemistry, biochemistry, veterinary sciences or related scientific discipline; PhD preferred.
• 7+ years' experience in regulatory & scientific affairs related to food, packaging or related product categories; 10 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and interprets new scientific literature for ingredients in food and packaging, focusing on contaminants and food contact materials.
• Identifies and translates pre-regulatory signals into strategic business intelligence.
• Maintains an influential network with trade organizations and external scientific bodies to shape regulatory policy developments.
• Leads Mars' technical scientific issues related to food packaging and ensures proper risk categorization and escalation.
