Job summary

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) invites applications for a Financial Specialist in the Global School. This role coordinates budgeting, tracking, and auditing for Global School project centers, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant fiscal processes.

The position partners with GEO staff, program directors, campus offices, and university partners to support the long-term sustainability of the centers and the Global Projects Program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; two years of relevant fiscal, budget, accounting, procurement, travel, or reconciliation experience in higher education or similarly regulated environments.
• Experience with financial, travel, purchasing, student information, or related business systems to support transactions, reconciliations, payroll, hiring, or other processes.
• Strong communication skills across departments and effective teamwork.
• Familiarity with Workday and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Attention to detail, organization, and time management.

Responsibilities

• Advise and guide study abroad program directors on developing budgets for 60+ project centers, with total costs ranging from ~$30,000 to $200,000.
• Provide guidance on fiscal policies, timelines, budgeting, program fees, and compliance with guidelines.
• Support financial trainings and monitor spending for cost savings opportunities.
• Manage fiscal processes for Global School portfolio within a ~$7.5 million operation.
• Handle Workday workflow, hiring paperwork, onboarding support, timesheets, pay periods, and payments.
• Reconcile payroll transactions and coordinate funds recovery by expense type.
• Process international health insurance payments and study abroad travel transactions.
