Job summary

Virginia Tech—through the Global Education Office (GEO)—seeks a detail-oriented Fiscal Technician to manage financial operations for study abroad programs. You will handle budgets, student payments, vendor contracts, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with university policies and international payment regs.

You will work with program managers, faculty leaders, and offices like Procurement, Controller, Bursar, and Accounts Payable, and will train colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Banner Finance (or similar).
• Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
• Experience reconciling fiscal accounts and managing budgets.
• Ability to research, analyze, reconcile, and evaluate fiscal data.
• Strong organization with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Attention to detail reflected in materials.
• Effective interpersonal skills for stakeholder collaboration.
• Ability to work independently with sound judgment.
• Experience coordinating complex projects or multi-step processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgets, student payments, vendor contracts, and financial reporting for study abroad programs.
• Collaborate with GEO, Procurement, Controller, Bursar, and Accounts Payable to ensure financial health and compliance.
• Provide guidance and training to faculty leaders and cross-train fellow fiscal technicians.
