Job summary

Nubank in Tysons, VA, is seeking a Global Head of Sanctions to design, implement, and continuously improve the sanctions compliance program across markets. The role requires deep technical sanctions expertise and strong people leadership to coordinate across countries, languages, and regulatory regimes.

You will oversee screening, data management, investigations, regulator interactions, and risk mitigation for new products and partnerships, with travel to LatAm offices as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in sanctions compliance or related financial crimes in financial services.
• Deep knowledge of OFAC regulations and sanctions programs across multiple regimes (EU, UN, UK).
• Experience building scalable sanctions programs in high-growth fintech or regulated environments.
• Strong people leadership with experience managing distributed or multi-country teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, own, and improve Nubank's global sanctions policy framework across current and future markets.
• Direct end-to-end sanctions screening including onboarding, transactions, and model tuning.
• Oversee watchlist data, ingestion, updates, and screening logic to balance detection and false positives.
• Lead investigations, disposition decisions, and regulatory filings for sanctions events.
• Serve as primary interface with OFAC, Treasury, and regulators; manage examinations and disclosures.
• Advise product, business, and partnerships on sanctions risk prior to launch.
• Monitor geopolitics and regulatory changes; translate into program updates.
• Coordinate audits and remediation of identified gaps; drive training across the organization.
