1872 Consulting in Boston seeks a Trading Assistant for Global Relative Value to work with the RV Trading team across fixed income and related markets, partnering with traders to capture trades and manage risk. You will support trade booking, risk reporting, and desk workflow, while collaborating with Operations, Risk, Finance, Technology and Compliance to ensure smooth execution and accurate data.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a financial services environment with solid rates exposure.
• Strong understanding of fixed income and currency products, including bonds and derivatives.
• Familiarity with relative value trading concepts and market data tools.

Responsibilities

• Support traders in execution and booking of trades across fixed income markets.
• Ensure timely and accurate trade capture within front-office systems.
• Monitor trade flows and investigate booking discrepancies.
• Liaise with middle/back office to resolve trade breaks and settlement issues.
• Maintain records of trading activity and amendments.
• Monitor desk positions, P&L, inventory, financing, and risk exposures.
• Reconcile positions between trading, risk, and settlement systems.
• Assist in risk reporting, scenario analysis, and position management.
• Produce daily reports highlighting exposures, limits, and portfolio changes.
• Escalate risk or control issues and ensure compliance with desk procedures.
• Collaborate with technology teams to improve desk infrastructure and workflow.
