Job summary

Google is seeking a Commodity Manager to collaborate with Engineering to secure supplies and equipment for production of innovative products. This role focuses on optimizing total cost of ownership for infrastructure through strategic supplier relationships and market insight.

The position emphasizes cross-functional leadership, long-term supplier development, and rigorous capacity planning to support scale and efficiency across Google’s global infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
• Experience in commodity management or sourcing with data center rack power conversion or power back-up solutions, including agreement negotiations, pricing negotiations, assurance of supply, capacity planning and supplier development.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects and suppliers, negotiating a variety of contracts and agreements, from statements of work to master supply agreements, to secure favorable pricing and terms and ensure supply assurance at scale.
• Lead cross-functional teams through the supplier selection process for new platforms and partner with key stakeholders to develop and execute strategies that balance innovation, time-to-market, cost, quality, and delivery.
• Oversee the operational aspects of the supply chain, including schedules, capacity, and supply chain flexibility, while communicating status and risks to management, ensuring continuous improvement.
• Mitigate supply chain risks and measure partner performance through regular business reviews to ensure quality and continuous improvement.
• Maintain a high level of industry expertise, keeping current on supplier and market conditions to inform sourcing strategies and negotiations.
