Job summary

World Vision, Inc. is seeking a Global Project Director to lead a multi-country USG grant project, Faith and Community Initiative (FCI). The role requires strategic leadership, donor liaison, and strong programmatic oversight across health sectors.

Qualifications

The Job

World Vision is seeking a Global Project Director to lead a multi-million-dollar, multi-country, 5-year United States Government (USG) grant funded project called Faith and Community Initiative (FCI) focused on leveraging the efficiencies of existing faith networks and faith-based or community health providers to bring integrated HIV TB, Malaria, MNCH and nutrition services through a hub-and-spoke model across 16 priority countries. To deepen efficiency and align with national strategies, the project will work collaboratively with governments, faith networks, and national Christian Health Associations (CHAs) to deliver integrated services at community levels. The project will gradually transition the implementation of activities to national CHAs, Ministries of Health, and other local stakeholders by year-3 and finally by the end of the project.

Responsibilities will include
  • Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, chapel, prayer, worship, devotions, and leadership of devotions); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
Project leadership
  • Provide technical oversight, administration, fiscal management, grant and contract administration and management, assuring quality, impact and cost effectiveness of the project.
  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction and lead a consortium of international and national organizations in implementing the multi-year, multi-country integrated health project. May oversee multiple sub-grantees.
  • Effectively implement the project vision; guide project operations, represent the project at important USG (DOS-GHSD) and donor meetings, global forums and other events while actively and consistently engaged and connected with the key USG stakeholders to ensure alignment with USG priorities.
  • Monitor and communicate programming impact, transition initiatives, and manage risks across initiatives and escalat as required.
Tracking progress and ensuring mission is accomplished
  • Oversee results framework, workplans, and technical standards; ensure evidence-based interventions.
  • Establish and maintain effective project reporting, evaluation, and communication systems. Submit timely accurate, and professional program reports that meet donor requirements to appropriate World Vision Partnership staff.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and determine corrective action needed to improve goal achievement by participating in and conducting rapid appraisals.
  • Approve Monitoring Evaluation and Learning plans and indicators; ensure data quality, dashboards, after-action reviews, and a learning agenda if applicable.
  • Manage grant/project budget within approved spending levels and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to donor and WVUS headquarters staff.
  • Establish leadership and personal credibility and implement and maintain clearly understood chain of authority and accountability.
  • Develop and maintain an adequate human resource plan consistent with organizational policies, donor requirements and local laws. Ensure proper technical capacity of staff to manage complex government funded projects.
Strategic Collaboration & Engagement
  • Facilitate leadership and stakeholder engagement, including communication and information flow between initiative leads and leadership groups.
  • Promote an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. Communicate World Vision's Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others. Help carry out our Christian organization's mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.
  • Lead and facilitate engagement with government, church and faith-based stakeholders in multiple countries and or regions. Coordinate a diverse group of local and internation faith-based partners and other stakeholders to accomplish the mission. Collaborate with Africa based churches & faith-based organization from inception of the grant.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with people from other cultures, religions, geographies and organizations; respects and adapts to other cultures and seeks opportunities to learn about them to enhance relationships. Understands and respects different denominations and religious traditions.
You bring these skills
  • Experience managing multi-country large scale integrated, complex projects/grants in or with INGOs, or consortiums, local and regional partners.
  • Working knowledge and skills in interacting with political stakeholders in US and African governments.
  • Strong health experience in HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, MNCH and nutrition.
  • Experience working in and with cross-cultural environments and cultures.
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Lotus Notes, intranet and Internet, and various software applications and databases used in work efforts.
  • Flexibility to perform other duties as required by the multi-country grant.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
