Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Wilmington, NC, is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to support equipment construction, installation, debugging, and startup at domestic and international sites. This role works closely with internal teams, contractors, and external partners to help deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality installation and conversion projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in controls engineering or a related field.
2–7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with PLC/PC-based systems including Beckhoff, B&R PLCs.
Knowledge of power systems up to 480VAC; strong safety focus.

Responsibilities

Support equipment installation, setup, debugging, and startup through turnover to operations.
Learn and understand process and equipment functions, including I/O requirements, control logic, fail-safe states, and recovery sequences.
Coordinate with system integrators and machine builders to deliver integrated equipment systems on time and within project goals.
Assist with development and modification of industrial control systems for manufacturing equipment.
Partner with Technology Development, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations teams to improve equipment designs and reduce cost.
