Job summary

International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking a Global Programs Intern for the 2027 Spring Internship class. The role supports the Global Programs division, South Asia, or Asia Pacific regions, aiding measurement and program management to protect vulnerable people.

The internship can be in-person or hybrid in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. Responsibilities include coordinating events, intranet management, compiling reports and data, and general project management.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study by start of internship.
  • Prior internship or leadership experience in orgs/volunteer activities preferred.
  • Able to commit to 20, 30, or 40 hours per week during standard business hours.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Intranet site management and resource development experience valued.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support events and training.
  • Intranet site management and updates.
  • Compile reports and data for division leadership.
  • Assist with project management and general IJM admin tasks.
  • Provide departmental and IJM-wide administrative support.

The Need For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Global Programs Intern to join the 2027 Spring Internship class.

The Global Programs Intern will support either the Global Programs division, South Asia region, or Asia Pacific region, which provide leadership, direction, and services on measurement and program management to our colleagues and partners to protect people in poverty from violence. The Global Programs Intern will support executive leaders driving the key initiatives of the division and ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

Tasks may include:
  • Coordinating and supporting events and training
  • Intranet site management
  • Compiling reports and data
  • Project management
  • Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support

This position can be fully in-person or hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. The position requires 20-40 hours per week. As volunteers, interns and fellows receive a monthly stipend to help defray their expenses related to participating in the internship program. This volunteer stipend is not an hourly wage, nor wages paid for services provided by the intern or fellow. Spring internship program dates are January 11 – April 9, 2027. General Qualifications and Required Skills
  • Prospective interns need to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study by the start of their internship.
  • At least one prior professional internship experience or significant leadership experience in extracurricular, campus, volunteer, or community-based organizations.
  • Ability to commit to a schedule consistent with the required time commitment listed above (20, 30, or 40 hours per week during standard business hours).
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience in intranet site management and resource development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
