Job summary

Lam Research is seeking a Global Product Support Engineer to become the backbone of technical support for field engineers, technicians, and product support staff. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and debug complex semiconductor equipment to ensure customer satisfaction in the installed base.

The role involves responding to escalated issues, reporting defects to design teams, and supporting hardware qualification and training activities. Hybrid on-site/remote work models apply.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years with a Master’s; or a PhD with 5 years experience.
• Semiconductor fab experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to field engineers and product support personnel troubleshooting deposition chambers and yield issues.
• Respond when first-line support cannot isolate or fix problems.
• Report design, reliability, and maintenance issues to engineering.
• Support training and documentation for new tool hardware qualification and BKM.
• Travel up to 20–30%.

The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

As a Global Product Support Engineer at Lam, you’re the backbone of technical support for field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel. Your expertise is crucial in diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex semiconductor equipment. Your swift action in responding to situations is critical in resolving issues and ensuring satisfaction of Lam’s valued customers.

What You’ll Do

• Product/Hardware/System engineer who will provide technical support to field engineers, product support personnel who are troubleshooting thin film deposition chambers for gaps in process capability, chamber matching, defects, and yield failure issues.
• Respond to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
• Report design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering.
• Support business important customer new tool hardware qualification, training and BKM document creation.
• Travel up to 20% -30%.

Who We’re Looking For

• Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Semiconductor fab experience is preferred.

Work location models

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $125,000.00 - $270,000.00. The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
