Job summary

Corning Inc. in Painted Post, NY seeks a procurement specialist to ensure on-time, cost-efficient supply of materials, equipment and services for Environmental Technologies.

You will manage supplier sourcing, contract documents and inventory, while upholding compliance and IP protection. In this role you’ll collaborate with plant teams and cross-functional groups, optimize purchasing practices, and support global manufacturing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associates degree or 2 years’ experience in procurement or a business related field
• Experience in manufacturing – Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Quality
• 2 years’ experience in procurement or a business-related field
• Experience with Supply Chain processes and systems
• Experience in a matrix environment or cross-functional team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Experience across multiple businesses, division and/or technologies
• Experience with global manufacturing and business through work or project experience
• Experience in a unionized environment
• Knowledge of SAP software platforms
• Understanding of SOX compliance

Responsibilities

• Ensures Raw Material orders are placed timely to ensure product availability at Plant.
• Creates and maintains contractual documents (Purchase Orders, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Certificates of Insurance, etc.).
• Assists with Commodity Reviews and Supply Intelligence
• Inventory Management (where applicable): Organizes, controls, and minimizes materials on hand, slow moving and obsolete materials.
• Acts as GSM liaison between plants, including materials and quality areas.
• Recommends changes to purchasing practices/supply management to ensure conformance with established laws, policies, and ethical principles.
• Ability to work with RTP to ensure invoicing issues are eliminated or resolved immediately.
• Participates in cross-functional teams focused on process improvements, cost reduction and supply chain issue resolution
• Protects Intellectual Property (IP).
• Ensures compliance with internal and external auditing requirements related especially to GSM or any other certification (if applicable)
• Makes sure that the suppliers are in environmental compliance, and that the scrap is correctly disposed
• Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance.
