Job summary

Ellucian is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Data Privacy & AI to lead global privacy and AI governance, partnering with Product, Engineering, Information Security, IT, HR, and leadership to enable innovation while managing risk.

The role focuses on privacy strategy, cross‑border transfers, AI governance, and regulatory compliance, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and FERPA, with a strong emphasis on responsible tech development.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active U.S. state bar admission.
• 10+ years of legal experience in privacy, data protection, or AI governance.
• Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, FERPA and related privacy frameworks.
• Experience advising SaaS, cloud, software, or technology companies on privacy and security.
• Ability to partner with cross‑functional leaders while balancing legal risk with business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global privacy legal strategy and advise on privacy‑by‑design, cross‑border data transfers, and evolving global regulations.
• Translate emerging privacy laws into practical guidance that enables responsible innovation.
• Advise stakeholders on privacy principles throughout the product lifecycle.
