Job summary

Axon is seeking a Privacy & AI Counsel to join our Legal team and shape how privacy and responsible AI are embedded across products and global operations. You’ll collaborate with product, AI, and employment teams to translate GDPR, US state laws, and other frameworks into practical guidance in a fast-paced environment.

Based in the United States (offices in Boston, NYC, Atlanta or Sterling), you’ll lead privacy assessments, DSARs and DPAs, guiding cross‑functional teams to stay compliant while

Qualifications

• JD and current US state bar in good standing.
• 3+ years in privacy or data protection law.
• Experience with GDPR, U.S. state privacy laws, PIPEDA, LGPD.
• Experience drafting DPAs and cross-border data transfers.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and collaborate across teams.
• Fluency with AI tools and practical AI ethics.
• Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPT are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to support privacy and AI compliance in Axon’s products, global operations, and culture—through scalable guidance and hands‑on execution.
• Counsel on ethical and legal considerations of obtaining, handling, and using AI training data and outputs.
• Drive implementation of privacy principles across products and internal operations by advising on and owning key workflows: impact assessments, DSARs, DPAs, and third‑party/sub‑processor reviews.
• Work closely with Axon’s existing privacy counsel to build, refine, and implement privacy and AI processes.
• Exercise sound judgment and strong self‑direction within a fast‑growing, global business.
• Partner closely with relevant stakeholders to provide guidance during and after incident response and remediation.
