Job summary

Moderna is seeking a Principal Engineer, Drug Product to provide visionary leadership across global sterile manufacturing operations, focusing on filling, packaging, and labeling equipment. Build and lead a Technical Authority organization to standardize facilities, processes, and systems worldwide.

The role drives Front-End Engineering for capital projects, oversees full project lifecycles, and ensures documentation and GMP compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred).
• 15+ years of engineering experience in pharma, especially drug product manufacturing equipment such as filling, packaging, and labeling systems.
• Proven track record managing large-scale global capital projects and leading cross-functional technical teams.
• Deep understanding of regulatory and performance requirements for sterile manufacturing, including FAT/SAT, commissioning, validation, and qualification.
• Demonstrated success in driving innovation, vendor management, and standardization across global sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of a Technical Authority organization to support manufacturing operations globally.
• Serve as Global SME in primary/secondary packaging, filling, labeling, closing equipment, and processes.
• Establish and maintain best practices for standardization of facilities, processes, equipment and systems.
