Job Summary

HP Inc. is seeking to recruit a Global Policy & Strategy director to lead on global policy issues affecting HP and the technology industry. The position will be responsible for analyzing geopolitical dynamics, developing positions and strategies for addressing policies that present risks or opportunities for the company. The position is located on the Global Policy and Strategy (GPS) team within the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GA&PP) organization.

The Director for Global Policy & Strategy leads a team to develop political, geopolitical, and policy analysis to inform HP business strategy and enterprise risk management. The GPS Director will also be responsible for aligning HP policy positions internally and executing with external stakeholders.

The position will report to the Head of GA&PP. The key responsibilities include:

  • Develop positions and influence strategy on a range of public policy issues including, but not limited to: trade and supply chains, global tax, additive manufacturing, and other tech policy issues in key markets
  • Regularly update policy positions and collaborate with Government Affairs (GA&PP) regional teams to develop and distribute actionable content for use by advocacy teams inside and outside of GA&PP
  • Monitor legislation and consult with regional GA&PP teams and subject-matter experts to determine HP's position
  • Conduct special projects of strategic importance to the company and executive leadership
  • Leverage external networks, including government officials and trade associations, to develop HP policy thought leadership and create allies for advocacy strategies
  • Ensure all activities are conducted according to HP's Standards of Business Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Typically a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 6+ years related experience or Master's degree and 4-6 years of experience
  • Experience developing and implementing government relations strategies for companies, political organizations; or relevant government service
  • Expert in global trade and supply chain issues.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and distributed business environment providing advice and counsel to senior management, and presenting to senior level boards and committees
  • Exceptional written and oral communications. Able to present to internal and external audience in a way that makes complex issues easy to understand and action. skills and a proven track record of producing high quality content and materials
  • Experience in executive communications
  • Knowledge of international institutions, government stakeholders, and deep industry knowledge (competitors, supply chain, and other stakeholders).
  • Outstanding organizational abilities including the capacity to collaborate with regional government affairs functions, and manage several different workstreams at one time
  • Intellectual curiosity, flexibility to learn and manage new issues.
  • Fluency in English, other languages an asset
  • Some travel may be required

The pay range for this role is $159,650 to $255,450 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

This position is located on-site in the HP Washington D.C. office.
