Job summary

The Gates Foundation is seeking a Deputy Director, People Global Operations to lead the delivery and improvement of core People operations across our global workforce. You will ensure HR processes, systems, and services are efficient, compliant, and responsive to employee needs.

Qualifications

10+ years of relevant professional experience, including leading teams and delivering complex operational improvements or large-scale change.
Experience with HR operations, shared services or HR technology-enabled service delivery.
Experience working with senior leaders to evaluate options and communicate risks.
Experience overseeing HRIS and service management platforms; familiarity with Workday and Zendesk.
Experience implementing automation and evaluating AI use cases.
Strong understanding of HR operations, compliance, and cross-geography impacts.
Excellent strategic problem solving, leadership, and change management skills.

Responsibilities

Lead global People operations across employee lifecycle transactions, HRIS administration, compensation operations, recruiting operations, and related services with accountability for quality and timeliness.
Establish service standards, SLAs, KPIs, and continuous improvement using insights and feedback.
Ensure People policies, controls, and documentation stay current in partnership with Legal and regional experts.
Oversee recruiting operations processes and enabling technology, including workflows and vendor relationships.
Set priorities for modernization, identifying automation and AI-enabled solutions with measurable outcomes.
Collaborate with IT, security, privacy, and governance to evaluate technologies and responsible AI use of employee data.
Lead cross-functional initiatives across global locations balancing standards with local needs.
Advise leaders on operational risks, tradeoffs, and downstream effects across People processes.
Lead, develop, and coach the team; manage capacity and ensure inclusive collaboration.
Oversee adoption of improvements, monitor results, and adjust approaches to sustain impact.
