Job summary

AST SpaceMobile seeks a Payroll Manager to ensure accurate, timely payroll for a growing multi‑state and international workforce. The role handles complex earnings, overtime, bonuses, and contractor payments, with strong compliance oversight and cross‑functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate will manage 1099s, year‑end reporting, and data flows across HR, Finance, and payroll systems, while driving process improvements and automation in a high‑growth tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent in accounting, finance, business administration.
• 5+ years payroll experience, multi-state U.S.; international exposure a plus.
• Payroll certifications (FPC/CPP) are a plus.
• Experience with payroll tax filings, year-end reporting, and contractor payments.

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly and monthly payroll with multiple schedules.
• Maintain payroll records and lifecycle changes (hiring, termination, comp updates).
• Review audits, identify discrepancies, resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and tax regs.
• Manage 1099s and global contractors; coordinate terms and renewals.
• Support payroll tax filings and year-end reporting (W-2s/1099s).
• Respond to employee pay inquiries with confidentiality.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and GL postings.
• Collaborate with HR/Finance to ensure accurate data flow.
• Drive payroll process improvements and automation.
