Job summary

Capital One is seeking a senior Risk Advisory Leader in Houston to partner with risk, legal, and audit across Card, Retail, and Payments networks. You will shape risk strategy for the network and merchant services business, challenge senior decisions, and guide regulatory compliance across global markets.

The role requires 8+ years in risk/compliance, 4+ years of people leadership, MBA or related master’s, and certifications such as CBCP/CRISC/CISM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
• 8+ years of legal, compliance, or risk management experience.
• 4+ years of experience in people management.
• 4+ years of experience consulting with and presenting to executive leadership.
• MBA or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with first and second line functions to analyze the risk management program framework and applicability to the network and merchant services business.
• Educate and influence risk management colleagues and leaders with respect to nuanced or specialized considerations.
• Advise business leaders on regulatory requirements, policies, and industry standards.
• Develop expert-level understanding of end-to-end network and merchant business processes worldwide.
• Proactively identify trends in business data and demonstrate appreciation of network payments risks.
• Maintain subject matter expertise in the broader payments industry and applicable global laws and regulations.
• Ensure ongoing application of compliance requirements to business expansions and new products.
• Develop strong relationships across the lines of defense, including Compliance, Legal, and Audit.
• Display a passion for coaching and developing others through their leadership style and presence.
• Support regulatory exam and engagement preparation and delivery.
• Manage, develop, and coach a Risk Advisory Team in support of their job responsibilities and to further their careers.
• Participate in reporting activities to leadership in the business and Risk Management.
