Job summary

Worldpay is seeking a Principal PHP/Phalcon Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain our payment API and related services using Phalcon. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable API solutions that meet quality standards.

Required 10+ years of software engineering, strong PHP/Phalcon experience, and cloud/DevOps familiarity. This is a full-time role in the United States (Georgia/Atlanta) with a focus on high-volume payment processing APIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proven Phalcon or PHP development experience with willingness to learn Phalcon.
• Strong PHP and PostgreSQL skills; familiarity with web tech (JavaScript/Angular).
• MVC architecture and Phalcon MVC familiarity.
• Experience with microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Cloud services (AWS/Azure) and DevOps practices.
• CI/CD and strong communication/teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain our payment API using the Phalcon PHP framework.
• Optimize API performance, security, and scalability.
• Create technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials.
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
• Unit test, debug, and resolve issues to ensure reliability.
• Design DB schemas with Phalcon ORM; optimize queries.
• Collaborate with 3rd party integrators, frontend, and PMs.
