Job summary

Merchant & Gould, one of the nation's premier intellectual property law firms, is seeking a Foreign Filing Paralegal. This position may be located in any of our office locations.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - 100,000. Summary of Position (hybrid): Assists in the preparation, prosecution and filing of PCT patent applications, utility and design patents, and foreign filings, with research on country-specific filing requirements.

Qualifications

• BA degree and paralegal certificate or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of on-the-job experience with U.S. prosecution filing.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently under attorney supervision.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains foreign patent files and filings.
• Prepares cover letters to foreign associates with filing instructions.
• Reviews incoming foreign correspondence for docketing and for non-substantive responses.
• Maintains communication with foreign associates and attorneys during filings.
• Assists attorney with procedural aspects of prosecution.
• Keeps foreign filing docket up to date.
• Maintains good working relationships with attorneys and staff.
• Prepares cost estimates for filing, prosecution and maintenance.
• Performs other tasks and projects as assigned.
