Job summary

Merchant & Gould PC is seeking a Foreign Filing Paralegal who will assist in preparing, prosecuting, and filing Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications and other patent filings in foreign jurisdictions. The role requires at least three days in the office and offers a hybrid work arrangement across multiple U.S.

locations. The ideal candidate has a BA degree or paralegal certificate with 3+ years of U.S.

Qualifications

• BA degree and paralegal certificate or equivalent experience, plus at least 3 years of U.S. patent filing experience.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under attorney supervision.
• Strong organization, prioritization and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains foreign patent files and prepares filing paperwork.
• Prepares cover letters detailing filing instructions for foreign associates.
• Reviews incoming correspondence for docketing and responses.
• Maintains communication with foreign associates and attorneys during filing.
• Assists attorneys with procedural aspects of prosecution.
• Maintains and updates the foreign filing docket.
