Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Global Paint & Materials Engineering Manager to lead the organization responsible for paint, coatings, and sealing materials across GM’s global manufacturing network. You will shape material strategies, standards, and supplier partnerships to drive quality, durability, and cost competitiveness, while building a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Experience with automotive paint shop operations, coatings, sealing systems, or related materials.
• Strong leadership of engineering teams in manufacturing, materials, coatings, or related environments.
• Proven ability to manage talent, performance, and workforce development.
• Ability to influence across engineering, manufacturing, operations, suppliers and business stakeholders.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead global team responsible for paint, coatings, and sealing material technologies across GM manufacturing.
• Define and execute materials strategies for vehicle quality, manufacturability, and cost competitiveness.
• Establish material specifications, standards, approvals, and process controls.
• Evaluate, validate, and implement new materials and supplier solutions.
• Partner with Design, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Operations teams.
• Develop future capability via talent planning and succession planning.
