Job summary

tms in Chicago is seeking an experienced Packaging Technology Leader to drive development initiatives across NA and Europe, aligning with managers and customers to deliver sustainable packaging solutions.

You will oversee strategic packaging programs, assess cost, risk, and feasibility, and present compelling business cases to guide investment and improvement across multiple materials and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering (packaging, material science, paper science, chemical, or mechanical, polymer science preferred).
• 12+ years of relevant experience in packaging development & engineering.
• Experience in the foodservice, food, consumer goods, or packaging material supply industries.
• Analytical approach to problem-solving and decision making.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Customer relationship management experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Strong organization and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and drive new to market strategic technology platforms, managing through ambiguity to build technical points of view.
• Independently lead packaging development initiatives in-line with needs identified by managers and customers.
• Build and present business cases for packaging programs with financial assessments and risk analyses.
• Act as technology leader in fiber-based packaging or thermoformed plastics, coordinating with suppliers.
• Advise with leaders, suppliers, and stakeholders to align on strategic initiatives.
• Drive future consumer and market needs with detailed roadmaps and pipelines.
