Job summary

IonQ is seeking an accomplished Senior Network Engineer to oversee and scale our global corporate network infrastructure. You will bridge strategic design with daily operations, manage uptime, and lead critical security modernization efforts across LAN/WAN, VPN, and cloud directories.

The role requires 7–10 years in network engineering, 3–5 years in leadership, and hands-on firewall/VPN expertise, with ongoing involvement in after-hours on-call rotations and occasional travel to IonQ sites.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of experience in network engineering and administration.
• 3-5 years in leadership, project management, or operations management.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
• Deep understanding of core networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
• Hands-on experience configuring and managing enterprise firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto), secure VPN tunneling, and ACLs.
• Experience building/auditing networks within SOC2 Type II or CMMC.
• Familiarity with migrating from On-Prem AD to cloud directories (JumpCloud, Okta) and Conditional Access Policies.
• Proven interpersonal skills with cross-functional collaboration during infrastructure transitions.
• Ability to participate in after-hours on-call rotation and occasional travel to IonQ sites.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, scale, and maintain global corporate network infrastructure.
• Bridge strategic infrastructure design with day-to-day operations.
• Manage maintenance, uptime, and troubleshooting of enterprise network.
• Lead scale initiatives, including identity-driven security modernization and securing assets.
• Execute M&A network integration roadmaps for subsidiaries.
• Oversee implementation, monitoring, and support of global LAN/WAN/Wireless/VPN.
• Configure, manage, and lifecycle network hardware from major vendors.
• Participate in on-call rotation for critical issues.
• Lead on-call schedule and incident response governance.
• Lead operational roadmap for integrating acquisitions into a unified IonQ infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with CMMC and SOC2 Type II frameworks.
