Job summary

Grainger is seeking a Manager, Global Network Design & Optimization in Illinois. The role combines advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and mathematical optimization to solve complex supply chain network challenges.

It leads cross-functional analytics, influences stakeholders, and advances modeling capabilities to support long-range planning. This hybrid position requires 3 days/week onsite at Chicago, IL or Lake Forest, IL, and reports to the Global Network Design & Optimization team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field.
• 5+ years in applied quantitative roles influencing supply chain optimization.
• Knowledge of optimization concepts and software tools.
• Experience applying data science and statistics to predictive models.
• Experience leading analytics projects end-to-end.
• Strong ability to communicate quantitative concepts to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Apply mathematical optimization, predictive modeling, ML, and quantitative techniques to analyze and optimize complex logistics architectures, flows, and processes.
• Develop modeling approaches and data sources to improve distribution network design, capacity planning, and long-range projections using tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, Python, R, and Gurobi.
• Lead complex cross-functional projects by setting direction for how supply chain network problems are structured, analyzed, and solved while aligning technical and business partners around long-range strategic recommendations.
• Translate complex analyses into strategic recommendations for senior leadership to support alignment on supply chain priorities, capacity decisions, and investments.
• Advance team modeling capabilities by identifying new methodologies, technologies, analytical approaches, and external partner capabilities.
• Mentor team members by elevating analytical capability and promoting modeling best practices.
