Job summary

Aon plc is seeking a Senior Director, media relations to lead day-to-day media engagement, manage relationships with reporters, and set global media strategy within our Marketing & Communications function.

You will mentor a proactive team, build a Center of Excellence, and shape external positioning across the firm while coordinating storytelling and executive visibility for a publicly traded, global brand.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in communications and a track record of leading sophisticated communications for global business objectives.
• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• Experience building national and local media relationships for a publicly traded global brand, preferably in professional/financial services, consulting, or technology.
• Ability to lead complex, sensitive communication initiatives balancing individual and organizational goals.
• Proven ability to advise senior leaders, including C-suite, on media relations and external positioning strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop journalist relationships, pitch, secure coverage, and respond to media queries to influence perceptions and thought leadership.
• Build share of voice across megatrends shaping client needs in Risk Capital and Human Capital.
• Distribute corporate press releases and updates via newsroom channels.
• Collaborate with teams to craft aligned messaging on growth, brand, and initiatives.
• Lead a global Center of Excellence for proactive and reactive media relations and coordinate with Marketing & Communications and agencies.
• Oversee media monitoring and reporting platforms to measure coverage, sentiment, and share of voice.
• Prepare leaders for media interviews and public speaking opportunities.
