Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. is seeking a Mechanical Simulation Engineer to provide global expertise in computer simulation of structural and mechanical assemblies for underground mining machines.

The role emphasizes Ansys-based analysis, design iteration, and collaboration with international teams. The position requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred) with a strong background in finite element analysis, materials, and mechanical design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or MET required.
• 10 years of mechanical design experience with 3–5 years using Ansys software (Workbench, DesignModeler, Discovery).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Assist product groups in design and development of new products.
• Redesign existing products to enhance performance and life of mechanical components.
• Perform evaluations, calculations and tests with defined requirements and outcomes.
• Provide conceptual and strategic solutions for engineering projects.
• Collaborate with other engineers on structural design.
• Design and evaluate shafts for stiffness, torque capacity and fatigue strength.
• Conduct root-cause failure analysis of components and assemblies.
• Document design data and generate detailed technical reports.
