Job summary

MAG Automotive, a leading machining solutions provider in Sterling Heights, MI, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead engineering tasks for diverse projects, ensuring specification, quality, schedule and budget alignment. You will direct design efforts, maintain the project BOM and schedule, coordinate with Sales and the customer on changes, and manage suppliers and tooling.

Travel may be required to support customers and MAG facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from a four-year college or university
• Five or more years of machine tool design experience and/or training
• Willingness to travel may be required to MAG Automotive facilities and customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and complete engineering tasks for projects to meet specification, quality, schedule and budget requirements.
• Direct the design in accordance with the proposal, sales order, company standards and procedures, customer specification and the machine qualification requirements.
• Maintain project BOM, budget and schedule commitment.
• Coordinate and respond to after-sales change requests with Sales and the customer.
• Assist Sales and Proposal Engineering in quoting new projects where applicable.
• Arrange design review meetings with engineering and manufacturing personnel.
• Identify risks on projects and apply risk management to minimize impact on schedule or cost.
• Communicate with customers regarding project-related issues.
