Job summary

Comau is seeking a Project Engineer / Mechanical Designer for Powertrain Machining & Assembly in Southfield, MI. The role oversees engineering projects from inception through customer buy-off, ensuring safety, budget adherence, and timely delivery across multiple disciplines.

The candidate will coordinate system engineers, manage scope changes, and liaise with customers and suppliers to deliver integrated solutions. Travel is required; automation experience in powertrain machining is ideal.

Qualifications

• Master or bachelor’s degree in automation, engineering or business is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Protect health and safety of project team and stakeholders.
• Liaise with customer, internal functions and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
• Review customer requirements and specifications and communicate to the organization.
• Monitor project progress and budget; maintain schedule and scope.
• Lead handover meetings and coordinate system engineers across commodities.
• Define and execute project risk, opportunities, and change management.
• Prepare and update risk assessments and method statements for site installations.
• Respond to changing client and product needs with timely, effective actions.
