Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a global engineering team responsible for ownership and continuous improvement of data center liquid cooling infrastructure.

You’ll lead hands-on mechanical design, review equipment submittals, and collaborate with suppliers to improve product reliability across AWS data centers. You will work on cross-functional teams to understand products from development through operational life, travel ~30% domestically and internationally,

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities (data centers, power generation or oil and gas)
• Experience researching new designs, technologies and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Possess strong engineering judgement and provide recommendations despite uncertainty
• Review, update, and approve equipment submittals
• Work with global liquid cooling equipment suppliers and manufacturers
• Build trust and relationships with stakeholders (reliability, operations, design, compliance)
• Work on concurrent projects across multiple geographic zones
• Explain complex systems in clear and concise language
• Support Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting
• Listen to the voice of the customer to identify improvements for reliability or availability
• Oversee design improvements with global suppliers and manufacturers
• Contribute to the global knowledge base and drive continuous improvement
