Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring a Buyer II to ensure timely material availability and optimal inventory. You will manage POs, contracts, and supplier relationships while collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Finance to support operational excellence and cost optimization.

The role emphasizes data-driven procurement, supplier collaboration, and continuous improvement within a global team. Travel is occasional as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus procurement or buying experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/JD Edwards) and Excel proficiency.
• APICS/CSCP/CPIM or CIPS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure materials are available at the right time and place.
• Create, execute, and maintain purchase orders and contracts.
• Maintain procurement data in ERP (lead times, pricing, stock levels).
• Monitor inventory health with planners; review supplier performance.
• Address supply disruptions and supplier issues escalated by planning.
• Collaborate with AP and suppliers to resolve invoices.
• Lead procurement for new product introductions with cross‑functional teams.
• Investigate material quality issues with Quality and suppliers.
• Utilize supplier tracking tools and dashboards for reviews.
• Help develop procurement processes and standard work.
