Job summary

Old World Industries, based in Northbrook, Illinois, is seeking a Buyer I to procure finished goods and raw materials from global suppliers to support manufacturing and customer demand. The role covers PO execution, MRP review, supplier communication, and delivery expediting across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of purchasing, procurement, buying, or supply chain experience.
• Manufacturing experience preferred; global sourcing experience a plus.
• SAP experience preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Knowledge of purchasing, inventory management, MRP, and supply chain principles

Responsibilities

• Procure finished goods and raw materials with primary focus on Asia.
• Execute MRP recommendations, including PO creation, confirmations, and rescheduling.
• Monitor and expedite POs to ensure timely delivery and uninterrupted supply.
• Coordinate with Global Sourcing and Transportation to support supplier performance
• Share forecasts with suppliers to support production planning and inventory management
• Maintain accurate purchasing data within SAP
• Collaborate with Transportation to ensure timely deliveries to facilities and customers
• Resolve invoice discrepancies with Accounts Payable to ensure timely payments
• Manage supplier quality issues through NCRs and CARs to minimize disruptions
• Support supplier performance reviews and BRMs
• Assist with supplier scorecards and supplier evaluations
• Track purchasing KPIs and drive cost savings and continuous improvement
• Provide purchasing support for special projects and team activities
• Serve as backup for other purchasing team members
